6 rounds of 30 seconds (2 right foot, 2 left foot, 2 switching), 30 seconds rest between, 3–5 days a week

  • A brick or concrete wall, or a rebounder
  • Timer (a phone works)

How to do the drill

  1. 1

Stand 3 steps (6 feet) from the wall with the ball at your feet.

  2. 2

Pass with the inside of your right foot. When it comes back, pass it again with one touch.

  3. 3

Keep going for 30 seconds. Count every pass that reaches the wall.

  4. 4

Rest 30 seconds. Go 30 seconds with your left foot, then 30 seconds switching feet.

  5. 5

Do the three rounds twice. Log your best 30-second round.

Coaching cues

  • Stay on your toes.
  • Ankle locked, soft pass.
  • Step to the ball.

What good looks like

The ball comes back to the same spot and you pass it without stopping it first.

Safety

Only use a house wall if a parent says it's okay. Pick a brick or concrete wall away from windows, parked cars and the street; a garage door dents and rattles.

Why this drill

In a game the ball often has to move on with one touch before a defender closes in. Quick wall passes train your feet to get set early and pass firmly with either foot.
