Baseball drills FAQ
What are good baseball drills for beginners?
Start with tee work for hitting, wall ball ground balls for fielding and the towel drill for throwing. All three can be done alone, take about 10 minutes and work for players as young as 7 or 8. Beginning pitchers should start with balance and stride drills at half speed before throwing hard.
What baseball drills are good for 8 year olds?
Keep it simple and short: tee swings into a net, soft toss with a parent, ground balls off a wall with a tennis ball, the towel drill and fly balls with a tennis ball. Ten to fifteen minutes is plenty. Pitchers aged 7–8 should stay under 50 pitches a day, following Pitch Smart.
What baseball drills can players do at home?
Tee work into a net, soft toss and front toss with a parent, ground balls and short hops off a wall, the towel drill, pitching into a net with a strike zone target, blocking tennis balls off a wall for catchers and timed runs to first base. Most need only a tee, a net, a glove and a wall.
What baseball drills can you do by yourself?
Most of them. Turn on the "No partner needed" filter to see drills a player can do alone, like tee work, wall ball and the towel drill. Soft toss, front toss and fly balls need a parent or teammate.
How often should youth baseball players practice at home?
Ten to twenty minutes, three or four days a week, is plenty for most Little League players. Every drill lists the time it takes and how many sets to do. Count pitching drills toward the day's pitch count and take rest days after games.
How do coaches assign baseball drills to players?
In Bravara Reps, part of the Bravara app, a coach picks drills or videos, assigns them to the whole team or to certain players and sets how many days a week. Players check in with a count when they finish and log one result, like strikes out of 30, and the coach sees who has done it.
Where do the drill videos come from?
The clips come from baseball and softball coaches on YouTube. Each drill plays only the parts of the video that show the drill, credits the channel and links to the full video.
