Each drill has a short video clip, numbered steps and one result to count, like good touches out of 20.
Where to start
- Start with juggling, letting the ball bounce between touches at first.
- Use a wall for wall first touch and receive and turn.
- Add toss and control to practice balls that come out of the air.
What you need
- A ball and a brick or concrete wall, a rebounder or a partner. Siding, garage doors and windows are not built for it.

Soccer first touch and juggling drills FAQ
How do you juggle a soccer ball for beginners?
Drop the ball, let it bounce once, kick it up gently with your laces and catch it. Then let it bounce between each touch, and take the bounce away once you can do 10 in a row. See soccer juggling.
How can I improve my first touch in soccer at home?
Pass the ball against a wall and control it with the inside, outside and sole of each foot, moving it a step to the side with your first touch. Wall first touch and receive and turn walk through it.
Does juggling help in soccer?
Yes. Juggling trains soft touches, balance and control of balls in the air. It is not a game skill on its own, so pair it with drills where the ball comes to you along the ground.
